The Sri Lanka Badminton Association’s annual flagship event, the National Badminton Championships which is looked forward to by all shuttlers where they vie for national honors, was staged for the second consecutive year  out of its traditional location Colombo, at the Jayathilaka sports complex in Nawalapitiya.

It was the final day at the Sunrise International Badminton tournament at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. There were altogether five matches for the day.

Sri Lanka`s final hope in the tournament had a fantastic start to the day by winning his quarter final Men`s singles match in a stunning comeback against India`s Aditya Prakash in three gruelling games. Dinuka has had a tournament to remember as he continued his fine form by dismantling his counterpart after losing the first game 21-13.

Sri Lanka`s pride in Badminton Niluka Karunarathne lost his second round match in valiant effort against the top seed H.S Pranoy from India in the 3rd day of the Yonex-Sunrise Badminton International under way at Sugathadasa stadium.

Second day of the Sri Lanka open international challenge 2014, an international Badminton ranking tournament  got under way yesterday  at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium.

Today marked the opening ceremony of the Yonex Sunrise Challenge the first  international Badminton tournament  to be held in Sri Lanka.  The event  was worked off in collaboration with the Badminton World Federation and  Badmintion Asia  Confederation.

All arrangements have been made to stage country’s first ever BWF Sanctioned World Ranking Event; the YONEX SUN RISE Sri Lanka International Challenge, from the 4th -8th of June 2014 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium.

Sri Lanka Badminton Association (SBA) recently declared that they are honored to host the Yonex - Sunrise Sri Lanka International Challenge 2014, from the 04th of June to 08th June at Sugathadasa Indoor Staduim, Colombo.
