A strong young team of 16 shuttlers have been selected to represent Sri Lanka at the upcoming South Asian Games 2019, scheduled to be held from the 1st to the 10th of December in Kathmandu/Pokhara Nepal.

Group champs’ Sri Lanka finish 21st in the world

Once again, the shuttlers of Sri Lanka has carried our nation..

Sri Lanka’s defending National Champions, Dinuka Karunarathne and Thilini Hendahewa will lead the Men’s and Women’s teams for the tour.

The team will be without the services of Niluka Karunaratne, a player with more experience on the international arena than most youngsters in the team, due to an injury. While Karunaratne’s presence will surely be missed, his younger brother Dinuka can more than make up for the loss.

Sri Lanka’s strongest Doubles pair, Buwaneka Goonethileke and Sachin Dias will join the team looking to repeat their performance from last year’s Commonwealth Games where they were able to play the country’s first medal match in their event. Surely, the duo will look to break the barriers this year to bring back medals where possible.
