Solid were once again at the wrong end of humiliation while Police finally found victory after 8 matches in week 9 of the Champions League 2022.
Solid v Pelicans
Pelicans defeated Solid 8-1 at the Maligapitiya Grounds in Kurunegala. Teofanov Sasa and Nafshan Mohamed scored hat-tricks for the Pelicans.
Sasa opened the scoring in the 17th minute before adding the 2nd in the 25th minute. Nafshan scored in the 39th minute to make it 3-0. Nimaal Minron’s penalty pulled a goal back for Solid in the 45th minute.
After the break, Sasa completed his hat-trick in the 50th minute and Edison Figurado scored the 5th for the Pelicans in the 61st minute. Rajikumar Shanthan made it 6-1 in the 72nd minute. Two minutes later, in the 74th minute Nafshan scored his 2nd and completed the hat-trick in the 87th minute.
Moragasmulla v Police
Police defeated Moragasmulla 2-1 at the Sugathadasa Stadium to get their 1st win of the tournament. Anthony Thanujan scored from a corner in the 10th minute to give the Police a 1-0 lead. Thisara De Silva equalized in the 22nd minute for Moragasmulla.

Police got a penalty on the stroke of halftime but Mohamed Sajid’s effort was saved by Vimukthi Maduwantha. Police found the winner in the 76th minute through substitute Hasaranga Priyanath.
