All arrangement have been made for the 2014 edition of the Carlton Super Sevens tournament as the much anticipated event in the Sri Lanka rugby calendar kicks off on August 8th at Koggala with the participation of 10 teams.
A press conference was held at the Galadari Hotel today ahead of the International segment of the Carlton Super 7s international rugby tournament 2014 of which the first leg is to kick off coming Friday the 8th of August in Koggala.
Calton Super 7s adding an intriguing dimension to the international segment have brought in 8 school teams to compete in Koggala 8th & 9th and Colombo 15th & 16th August 2014.
Carlton Super 7s tournament connects the young and old together to provide an enthralling joy ride of rugby 7s. Carnival atmosphere will colour Koggala on August 8th and 9th before it returns to the main city of Colombo for the final leg.
Rugby is the fastest growing sport in Sri Lanka. Carlton Super 7s tournament’s main initiative is to take rugby to all parts of the island, create awareness and educate the sport to the masses as Rugby 7s will be a part of the 2016 Olympic Games.
Sri Lanka’s Premier International rugby sevens tournament, Carlton Super 7s is yet again at the edge of spreading the rugby fever all over the island. Representing the Uva Province, Uva Vipers will be watched with keen interest as they are packed with New Zealand players.
Carlton Super Sevens Tournament was initiated in the year of 2011 in the direction of developing the sport of Rugby in Sri Lanka. The tournament consists of 10 regional teams comprising players from local & international clubs and school players while its main goal is to excel the future of Rugby in Sri Lanka.
The Carlton Super 7s International Rugby tournament’s International segment is to be played off on the 8th, 9th of August in Koggala with the second and final leg to be played off on the 15th and 16th of August 2014 in Colombo.

The Carlton Sports Club together with the Sri Lankan Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) and Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU) hosts a one of a kind tournament in Sri Lanka to develop rugby in the Island.
Carlton Super 7s is a boundless and unique experience for the local players as they will be given the opportunity of playing with the world-class international rugby superstars. Representing the down south of Sri Lanka, the Southern Sharks will be determined for an improved and successful 2014 campaign.
