Carlton Super Sevens International tournament 2014 Colombo leg commenced on Friday morning with the resumption of the Dialog Carlton Schools 7s group stage matches and by the end of the day, Science, Isipathana, St Joseph's and Kingswood Colleges qualified for the cup semi-finals after winning their respective quarter-final games.
Western Warriors won the group A despite losing one game while Central Kings won all their 4 matches to lead the group B as a brilliant day of fast and open 7s rugby ended on Friday evening.
Ten teams of outstanding 7s rugby players inclusive of Lankan stars and international stars have arrived in the capital city of Colombo to take part in the Carlton Super Sevens 2nd Leg which will be held on 15th & 16th of August at the Race Course International Rugby Stadium.
The very first segment of the Dialog Carlton Super 7s Schools U 19 tournament was worked off in a sun-kissed newly commission Koggala grounds. Taking centre stage amidst the international arena the schools displayed some good rugby.
The dominant Western Warriors beat the fighting Southern Sharks 14-12 in final, to take the Carlton Super 7s International first leg concluded at Koggala this evening.
Central Kings and Western Warriors remained unbeaten on day one as they won all their respective Pool A & B matches to dominate proceedings at the picturesque Koggala BOI ground by the sea which was dressed up in all its grandeur for the 1st leg of the Carlton Super 7s international rugby tournament which commenced today.
