The very first segment of the Dialog Carlton Super 7s Schools U 19 tournament was worked off in a sun-kissed newly commission Koggala grounds.  Taking centre stage amidst the international arena the schools displayed some good rugby.  

Even though some of the big names in the schools circuit were missing from the line ups the future of Sri Lanka rugby displayed itself with aplomb.

Royal vs Kannangara

The first edition of the Carlton schools rugby 7s kicked off at the picturesque Koggala BOI ground, as Royal College took on CWW Kannangara. Royal college took control of the game from the start as they scored twice in the first half. CWW Kannangara struck back early in the second half as they scored in the left corner to cut the deficit to 5 points. However, Royal scored yet another try to come out winners. Scores- 15-05 to Royal

Science vs Isipathana

Game two of the day was between Isipathana College and Science College. Science College took a surprise lead in the game but Isipathana came storming back right after scoring twice and gaining a narrow lead at the end of the first half.  However, Science scored yet again stunning the triple champions and managing to win the game 21-17.

Kingswood vs Wesley

Game three of the day was between Kingswood College and Wesley College. Kingswood drew first blood as they scored twice to end the first half with a 10 point lead.  The Kandy lads continued to score at will as they ended the game 22- nil in favor of Kingswood college.

Joes vs Trinity

St. Josephs College began game four of the day against Trinity College Kandy. Joes started well and scored early on. Trinity College drew level with a try of their own. Joes scored in the closing moments of the first half and went in to the break with a 07 point lead. Trinity scored first in the second half but Joes retaliated to edge further forward and went on to over-throw Trinity 28-12.

Isipathana vs Royal

Following the loss in their first match Isipathana College looked to gain some momentum in the tournament. Isipathana came storming in scoring 2 tries in the first half.  Isipathana began the second half just as the first half scoring freely but Royal College came back strong yet failed to close the gap and the green lads  took the game 19-13.

Science vs Kannangara

After tasting defeat in the first match CWW Kannangara looked to revive their tournament as they met Science College in their next game. Kannangra began the game strongly as they scored twice in the first half, but Science College managed to cut the deficit as they scored in the dying second of the first half. Science College began the second half on a high as they scored tries from the start and made a remarkable come back to win the game. Science 21-10 Kannangara

Kingswood vs Joes

Both Joes and Kingswood came in to the game after recording wins in their first game. Kingswood College Started well as they scored under the post within the first two minutes. Kingswood finished the first half on a high as they scored in the dying moments to extend their lead. Joes did not manage to make a telling break as Kingswood scored five tries past the Josephian defence. Kingswood 33-00 Joes

Trinity vs Wesley

The final game of the Dialog Carlton Schools rugby sevens 1st leg saw Wesley College take on Trinity College. Trinity began strong as they scored in the first minute of the game and continued to make progress as they scored five tries past a hapless Wesley college team to end the carlton schools rugby sevens leg one.
