Trinity College’s badminton players and officials were yesterday assaulted at the Royal Sports Complex in Colombo where they were contesting the all-island Under-19 inter-school championships in the latest case of violence against schoolboys.

One of the most controversial sports officials in recent years, Suraj Dandeniya, former head of Sri Lanka Cricket’s 2011 ICC World Cup organising committee, was fervently censured before a media gathering at Nippon Hotel, Colombo last morning.
