The Senior Badminton Championship organized by the Ceylon Masters Badminton Association (CMBA) will take center-stage at the Royal College Sports Complex, on the 29th and 30th of June.

The tournament will feature players from across the country competing under 8 age groups and 3 combined age categories. The 8 age categories will be, Over 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65 and 70, where events will consist of men`s and women`s singles, doubles and mixed doubles. For doubles and mixed doubles events the combined age categories (the two players’ ages combined) are; over 100, 110 and 120.

A total of a million rupees is on offer as prize money which will be distributed among the champions and the runners-up of the respective categories.

The tournament committee is headed by the former National Coach Pradeep Welagedara while Ramani Ponnambalam will be his deputy. Sanjeewa Wijesekara will act as the tournament referee and his deputy duties will be bestowed upon Samanthi Navarathene.

Entries for the tournament will close on the 14th of June 2019. Entry fees for the first event, per person, will be 2500 LKR while 500 LKR will be charged for each additional entry of the same participant. Each individual can participate in up-to a maximum of 3 events.

The draw for the tournament will be held on the 22nd of June at the CMBA head-office. Players have been denied participation at the draw ceremony but the organizers have taken measures to broadcast the draw live, across the island.

The entries can be submitted online by visiting the CMBA website or handed over to the CMBA head-office.
