Six years after posting her personal best in her pet event 400m (52.36 secs) Chandrika Subashini Rasnayake is on track again aiming to do below that range hoping for a medal at the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, Korea, which is her third Asian Games. Rasnayake's sub 53 second performance could secure her a silver medal, compared to her medal winning times in the previous two Asian Games.

China widened its lead in the Asian Games medal race on Thursday as the competition was overshadowed by the Qatari women's basketball team withdrawing because of a ban against wearing Muslim headscarves during games.

2014 Asian Games: Medal Count after Day 3

The 17th Asian Games opened in a multi-coloured blaze of fireworks and carefully crafted K-Pop routines on Friday, as athletes from the world's most populous region came together in pursuit of gold and glory in South Korea.

Two former sports administrators lambasted Sports Ministry, National Olympic Committee as well as Athletics Association of Sri Lanka for chaotic and irresponsible handling of the selection process leading to several deserving athletes being deprived of an opportunity to join the national contingent for the Asian Games.

The third day of the BOC Relay carnival came to an end yesterday at the Sugathadasa International stadium with many records being shattered by both schools and other sports institutions.

It was the second day of the relay carnival at the Sugathadasa stadium and there were four school records and three national records as the level of competition intensified on the penultimate day.

Relay Carnival got under way in colorful fashion with as many as three thousand athletes from schools , armed forces etc from all over the country gathered in numbers at the Sugathadasa stadium.

The Relay carnival 2014 which is organized by the Athletic Association of Sri Lanka is one of the most looked forward to events in the Athletics calendar and will be under way from the 3 - 5 September  2014 at the Sugathadasa Stadium Colombo

Sri Lanka enjoyed a respectable performance at the 76th Singapore open track and field championship at the Choachukang Stadium, Singapore which concluded on the 23rd, 24th of August, 2014.

In a communiqué issued, the Athletics Association of Sri Lanka announced that the following athletes will be taking part in the Singapore Athletics Meet to be held at the Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Singapore on the 23rd and 24th August 2014

It was the final day of the 92nd national championships  at the Sugathadasa Stadium and there were two records broken and one equaled of a very successful championships. With this the authorities will decide who has made the cut according to their respective timings for the Asian games which will be held next month in Korea.
