Relay Carnival got under way in colorful fashion with as many as three thousand athletes from schools , armed forces etc from all over the country gathered in numbers at the Sugathadasa stadium.
There were as many as three school records and one national record today at the carnival. A. Rathnayake Central College, Wattala broke three records in the 4 x 800 meters final in the girls under 18 category , girls under 20 category and boys under 16 final respectively. Sri Lanka Army ‘A’ broke the national record in the 4 x 1500 meter final with a timing of 18 minutes and 22.22 seconds.
