In the fourth encounter of the SLC Women’s Super 4 limited overs tournament, the two unbeaten sides SLC Greys and SLC Reds locked horns at the BRC grounds. In a low scoring thriller the Greys managed to edge past Reds to keep their unbeaten run intact.
Harshitha Samarawickrama, who won the toss for Greys, decided to bowl first. The Greys bowlers who backed that decision never let the Reds batters off the hook to make a big score. Prasadini Weerakkody’s 18 was the top score for the Reds and none of the other batters managed to cross the 8 run mark.
Just like in their first encounter, Inoshi Fernando and Inoka Ranaweera got the job for the Greys in the bowling front taking 3 wickets each. Sandani Thiwanka and Imalka Mendis also provided quality support to the duo taking one wicket each. As a result of this quality bowling performance, Reds were dismissed for just 81 runs in 35.4 overs.

Defending a total as low as 81, Reds nearly made a match out of it as it was never easy for the Greys batters to chase it down. Tharika Sewwandi who bowled exceptionally well in their first game made an impact in this game as well by striking early with the new ball. Malsha Shehani then started causing trouble as well to further dent the chase of the Greys taking 3 wickets. But Hansima Karunaratne managed to weather the storm of Reds quality bowling to score an unbeaten 32 to take Greys just over the line. Kaushini Nuthyangana also supported Karunaratne with a cameo of 14. Greys with 3 wickets in hand managed to reach their target of 82 after 31.5 overs to become the only undefeated team of the tournament with 2 more games to go in the first round.
