Here are the results of the Singer Schools U13 Division 1 & 2 matches which concluded today, 11th October.

Loyola College, Negombo vs St. Sebastian’s College, Katuneriya

The match between Loyola College, Negombo and Sebastians College, Katuneriya in the Singer Schools U13 Division 2 group B was played today at Albert Peiris grounds, Wennappuwa. The visiting team Sebastians won the toss and invited the home team to bat first and bowled them out for just 104 runs completing 50.1 overs. Aloka Nimesh was the top scorer for Loyola, scoring 20 runs not out. Chamal Hirushan and Nisal Rashmika shared six wickets between them as 3 for 17 and 3 for 26 respectively.  Batting their first inning Sebastian Juniors couldn’t pass the half century mark as a team total before they were bowled out for just 42 runs in 22.4 overs. Sanjana Jansa demolished the batting line taking more than half of the team by grabbing 7 wickets just for 10 runs.

It was a more settled second inning show by the home team Loyola when they scored 133 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 21 overs before the umpires called the day off. Brendon Fernando and Kavindu Amarasinghe were unbeaten at the end of the day, scoring 63 runs and 25 runs not out. Chamal Hirushan took both wickets giving away 60 runs.

The match ended up a draw and Loyola College gained points by winning the first inning.

Maris Stella College, Negombo vs Bandaranayake College, Gampaha

Two leading schools from Gampaha district played today in Singer Schools U13 Division 01 group F game between Maris Stella College, Negombo and Bandaranayake College, Gampaha.

The visiting team Maris Stella juniors won the toss and opted to bat first and put up a decent total on the score board by scoring 190 runs for the loss of 8 wickets completing 51 overs and declared their inning. Sonal Nethmina and Yohan Fernando scored 70 runs and 50 runs not out respectively. Nethika Alathgama was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 wickets for 36 runs and Daham Kiriella took 2 wickets for 41 runs.

Home team Bandaranayake was clueless about the bowling performance by the visiting team. They were bowled out just for 85 runs completing 52.1 overs and umpires called it for the day. Once again it was Nethika Alathgama who was the only performer for the home team scoring 25 runs which was the highest score for the team. Thinal Randuna took 3 wickets for 17 runs and Ramith Bandara chipped 4 wickets for 16 runs.

The match ended up a draw with first inning points to Maris Stella College, Negombo.

Richmond College, Galle vs St. Thomas College, Matara

It was a junior battle down south today when Richmond College, Galle met St. Thomas College, Matara in the Singer Schools U13 Division 01 group N match played at Sanath Jayasuriya grounds Matara.

Home team won the toss and invited the visitors to bat first and bowled them out for just 60 runs in 33.5 overs and proved the option to select bowling first was a good choice. Vihadu Ruwin was the pick of the bowlers when he grabbed 5 wickets giving away only 13 runs and Manuga Yonal took 2 wickets for 18 runs.

Even though the target looks small and easy, the Richmond juniors gave a unforgettable fight to defend the total before rain interrupted the play and called it off for the day. St. Thomas scored 59 runs for the loss of 9 wickets completing 28 overs. Thaveesha Dahamjith and Yuri Kottigoda shared 4 wickets between them by taking 2 for 11 and 2 for 15 respectively. Sharon Abhishek took 3 wickets for 14 runs.

The match ended a draw with no results.
