Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club were crowned champions of the SLC Major Club T20 Tournament 2026 after defeating Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in the final worked off today (16th September) at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
Having won the toss, SSC opted to bat first and posted 163 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, with their opening pair Vishad Randika and Avishka Fernando leading the way with half-centuries.
Randika top scored with 68 runs off 49 balls, striking 6 fours and 2 sixes, while Fernando made a brisk 51 off just 27 balls, including 3 fours and 4 sixes.
Left-arm seamer Binura Fernando was the pick of the Tamil Union C & AC bowling attack, claiming 3 wickets for 22 runs to restrict SSC to a competitive total.

However, Tamil Union C & AC made light work of the chase, reaching the target in just 15.2 overs with seven wickets in hand.
The opening batter Sineth Jayawardene and No. 3 batter Navod Paranavithana put the game firmly in Tamil Union’s hands with a remarkable 133-run partnership for the second wicket, coming off just 56 balls.
Jayawardene produced a breathtaking display of power hitting, smashing 82 runs off only 32 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes at a staggering strike rate of 256.25.
Paranavithana provided the perfect support at the other end, scoring an unbeaten 58 off 38 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes as Tamil Union C & AC completed a dominant victory to lift the SLC Major Club T20 Tournament 2026 title.
