Defending U19 champions St. Joseph’s College were deprived of a victory against Maris Stella College today as bad light stopped the game when they were just 2 runs short of the required target. In two other games in Colombo, Thurstan drew with St. Anthony’s Wattala while Nalanda dominated the first day’s play against St. Sylvester’s.

Maris Stella College vs St. Joseph’s College – (Group A)

St. Joseph’s resumed their first innings on 136/5 and went on to add 95 more runs as opener Sheran Fonseka finishing as the top-scorer. Former skipper Ashain Daniel did the bulk of the scoring today with 58 runs.

Daniel then continued to dominate the opposition as he picked up 6 wickets to bundle out the home team for a mere 112 runs at the St. Sebastian’s College grounds in Katuneriya. This left the Josephians with a target of 51 in 13 overs.
