Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club Vs Galle Cricket Club

The Tamil Union batsmen’s collective effort in the first innings proved to be too much for Galle CC at the CCC grounds as the former recorded a 61 run win to keep their winning streak untouched.

Galle could only muster a modest 145 in 20 overs despite captain Harsha Vithana’s 58 after left handed batsman Lahiru Milantha and veteran all-rounder Jeewan Mendis smashed brisk half centuries to take Tamil UCAC to a mammoth 206.

Sri Lanka Ports Authority CC Vs Army Cricket Club

A low scoring match at BRC grounds concluded today with Army CC taking honours.

The Janith Sliva led Army CC bowling attack destroyed SL ports Authority as they were wrapped up for 99. Army captain Seekkuge Prasanna then went berserk in the chase to finish the game within 13 overs with a knock of 41.

A high-scoring thriller of a game took place at the Bloomfield grounds as one run turned out be the difference between the two clubs. Skipper Harsha Cooray’s blistering knock helped Chilaw get to 184. Mystery spinner Akila Dananjaya again had impressive figures of 3/27.

Colts openers Avishka Fernando and Sadeera Samarawickrama replied with a perfect start as they cruised to 70 runs in 6 overs, but half centurian Fernando’s dismissal slowed Colts’ chase.

In the final over, Colts needed 9 runs but fell one run short when Akila Dananjaya got run out in the last ball, trying to complete the second run.

NCC were found wanting at the hands of SSC at Katunayake as the combination of Thisara Perera, Dasun Shanaka, Sachithra Senanayake and Shammu Ashan handed NCC a 7-wicket loss.

Shammu Ashan’s unbeaten 44 made sure the match ended within 35 overs.
