Galle managed to take honors against Colombo on day one in their encounter of the National Super League 4-day tournament which commenced today (24th March) at Galle.

The skipper Dinesh Chandimal won the toss and chose to bat first at the Galle International Cricket Stadium. Things didn’t go as planned for Galle on day one as they were bowled out for 267 runs for their first innings.

Priyamal Perera and Sangeeth Cooray stroked half-tons while the left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya grabbed his 2nd six-wicket haul in the tournament.

In reply, Colombo batters also struggled on Galle’s pitch as they lost 6 wickets for just 110 runs on first day’s play. Sri Lanka capped off-spinner Akila Dananjaya was impressive with the ball for Galle as he bagged 3 scalps for 28 runs.

Jaffna vs Dambulla

After being asked to bat first, Dambulla posted 159 runs for 2 wickets before the rain brought early stumps on day one.

Lasith Abeyratne (60) and Minod Bhanuka (52) who top scored for Dambulla set an unbeaten stand of 95 runs for the 3rd wicket. The speedster Nuwan Pradeep picked up 2 wickets for Jaffna.
