The weekend saw two great matches of rugby football in the Dialog A Division League. We'll get to those two in a moment. But before that there was some other matches down for decision.

There are give matches down for decision this week as well, and with the inclement weather conditions, I think all we can hope for is 80 minutes of rugby in all of them. Fingers crossed.

The second week of Dialog Rugby had some good games and an upset, when Army overturned the fancied Upcountry Lions. The Lions though will have the services of Joketani Raikabula on hand this week, and he will want to put a few tries on the board for his careless red card two weeks ago.

The second weekend of Dialog A Division rugby action was as expected. More or less. Unfortunately, I could only watch one game because the scheduling is such, but with venues like Welisara, Diyagama, Ratmalana, Hambantota and Nawalapitiya it makes life difficult for the travelling fan.

Olivier Giroud scored a brace to help Arsenal beat Southampton 2-0 at the Emirates with the result putting the league leaders four points clear of Liverpool and Chelsea.

Defending champions Manchester United climbed three places in the table to fifth after they beat Arsenal 1-0 at Old Trafford.

Manchester United blew the chance to go 3 points clear at the top when they drew 0-0 away at Real Sociedad.
