Over 400 participants will come together this June for the annual, Grade 2, SSC Open Ranking Championship 2018. Proceedings will commence on the 26th May and will see end on the 10th June at the Sinhalese Sports Club.

The SSC Championship is one of the most celebrated events in the local Tennis calendar and rewards winners grandly. Classified as a ‘B’ grade event, the annual tournament will take place on five high class clay courts at the SSC premises.

The tournament will hold 20 age groups ranging from the under 12’s to the veterans Over 55 events. The veterans’ events will only be hosted in the doubles format while most other junior and open events will host both singles and doubles.

National Davis Cup representative, Yasitha De Silva, walked away Men’s Open Champion in the 2017 and will return this year with hope of holding on to the prestigious trophy.

Yasitha’s trusted mixed doubles partner, National champ, Amritha Muttiah will return to the games competing in the mixed doubles event; the pair took home last year’s title. De Silva also bagged the Men’s Open Doubles title partnering Davis Cup teammate Sankha Athukorala.
