The Sri Lanka Girls’ Team qualified for the Semi-Finals of the Billie Jean King Cup Junior Pre-Qualifying tournament at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association Courts, Colombo, on 22nd February.
Ivanka Samarasinghe and Dinara de Silva, who represented Sri Lanka, managed to register a convincing win (2-0) over Malaysia to book their place in the Semi-Final encounter against Turkmenistan.
Samarasinghe defeated Zooey Mak with scores of 6-2, 6-2, while De Silva outplayed Daania Daniella with scores of 6-2, 6-1 in the singles event.
Sri Lanka Boys’ Team suffered a big defeat at the hands of Jordan (2-0) in the Quarter-Final encounter in the Junior Davis Cup Qualifying Tournament, and they will now play the 5th – 8th plate playoffs.
