Twin fifties help St. Servatius’ to fight back

The 2nd Semi-final of the U19 Division 1 Tier ‘B’ Inter-Schools Two-Day Tournament 2022/23 commenced today at Surray Village Grounds, Maggona, between St. Servatius’ College of Matara and Mahinda College of Galle.

After having won the toss, Mahinda College put St. Servatius’ to bat first. Most of the batters in their top order and middle order got starts but weren’t able to convert them to big ones.

At one stage, they were in a difficult position, losing 7 wickets for only 179 runs. Thereafter, No. 6 batter Vishwa Supun and No. 9 batter Kushan Wijerama rebuilt the innings by scoring valuable half-centuries.

Both of them emained not out at the end of Day 1 with a massive total of 321/8. Vishwa Supun was unbeaten on 87, together with Kushan Wijerama who was on 71, while Senuka Dangamuwa claimed 4 wickets for Mahinda.
