St. Sebastian’s College, Katuneriya crowned champions of the U19 Division 2 Tier ‘A’ Inter-Schools Two-Day Tournament 2022/23.

St. Sebastian’s College managed to claim the first innings points against Holy Cross College in the Final of the tournament, which ended in a draw today at Mount Lavinia.

After been put into bat first, St. Sebastian’s College were bowled out for 102 courtesy of an exceptional bowling performance from Rashen Kethaka, who picked up 6 wickets for just 6 runs.

In reply, the Holy Cross College batters also faltered in their first innings, being bowled out for just 93 runs. Thisara Madushan was the pick of the bowlers for St. Sebastian’s College as he grabbed 4 wickets for 33 runs.

The boys from Katuneriya began their 2nd innings 9 runs ahead, but managed to post only 135 as the bowlers dominated once more in this encounter. Hansaja Brayan stole the limelight, picking up 4 wickets for 40 runs. Kethaka snared 3 more wickets, taking his match tally to 9 wickets for 36 runs.

Chasing 145 runs to win, the Holy Cross College batters tried their best to get close to the target, but they were unable to get over the line on time as they had to be content with a draw at the close of play on Day 2 with a score of 132/7.
