Ananda College, Colombo vs St. Peter’s College, Colombo

St. Peter’s College took honors in the drawn encounter against Ananda College which concluded today at Ananda College Grounds in Colombo. The highlight of the match was the magnificent double century scored by right handed batsman Santhush Gunathilaka for St. Peter’s College. Thanks to his record breaking unbeaten 252 runs, the visitors put up a massive score of 423 runs on the board before declaring their innings.

Kaumal Nanayakkara spins Cambrians to innings victory

Gunathilaka’s knock of 252 runs came off 243 balls including 29 fours and 8 massive sixes. Ranmith Jayasena (80) and Bhanuka de Silva (63) gave good support to Gunathilaka at the other end with useful contributions with the bat. The Ananda College batsmen began their second innings 210 runs behind and were struggling at 166 runs for 7 wickets when umpires called stumps.

St. Joseph’s College managed to take first innings points in their traditional fixture against Wesley College which concluded today at the Wesley College Grounds in Colombo. After putting up a massive score of 413 runs on the board, the Joes expected to dismiss the hosts cheaply but it was not the case as the Wesley batsmen showed great resistance with the bat posting 407 runs for their first innings.

Dineth Jayakody and Dunith Wellalage put Joes on top

Kavindana Perera scored an unbeaten 125 runs while Shenal Dangalle (95) and Movin Subasinghe (92) chipped in with half-tons for the hosts. Left arm spinner Dunith Wellalage had to toil hard with the ball for the Joes as he gave away 133 runs to pick up 4 wickets.
