St. Anthony’s Girls, Katugastota to meet Anura, Matara in U19 Division 2 Fina

St. Anthony’s Girls College Katugastota from Central province will meet Anura Vidyalaya Matara from Southern Provice in the final of the Under 19 Girls Division Two Inter Schools Cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association sponsored by Sri Lanka Cricket tomorrow (20th January) at Nalanda College Grounds Colombo.

64 teams participated in the tournament in the first round into 12 groups according to the league basis. 28 teams advanced to the final round.

St. Anthony’s Girls College Katugastota advanced to the final round as the group champion in the first round. St. Anthony’s Girls College Katugastota beat Puthukkulam Maha Vidyalaya (Vavuniya) in the second round securing their place in the pre quarter final. They defeated Uhana Maha Vidyalaya in the pre quarter final and advanced to the quarter final.

St. Anthony’s Girls College Katugastota beat Dudley Senanayake Central College Tholangamuwa in the quarter final and beat Kekirawa Central College in the semi final securing their place in the final.

Anura Vidyalaya Matara advanced to the final round as the group champion in the first round. Anura Vidyalaya Matara beat Kegalu Vidyalaya in the second round booking their place in the pre quarter final. They defeated Jayasiripura KV Polonnaruwa in the pre quarter final round and advanced to the quarter final.

Anura Vidyalaya Matara beat Sri Pragnananda Maha Vidyalaya Kumbukkana (Monaragala) in the quarter final and beat Rathnawali Balika Vidyalaya Gampaha (B) in the semi final securing their place in the final.

Shalani Dassanayake will lead St. Anthony’s Girls College Katugastota and Devindi Rasanjana will lead Anura Vidyalaya Matara. Rishmi Sanjana permanent skipper of Anura Vidyalaya joined Sri Lanka Under 19 Women’s team who are currently playing in the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023.

Rishmi Sanjana, Rashmika Sewwandi and Pamoda Shaini, the three players from Anura Vidyalaya have also joined Sri Lanka U19 Women’s team to participate in the World Cup.
