The Final of the SLC Major Clubs U23 Tournament 2023 commenced today (21st March) at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, between Ragama Cricket Club and Moors Sports Club.
After deciding to bat first, Ragama CC lost their first 4 wickets with just 69 runs on the board. However, Ranmith Jayasena joined Dulaj Bandara for the 5th wicket to put on a crucial 93-run partnership. Left-arm orthodox bowler Theesan Vithusan provided the breakthrough as he removed Bandara after scoring 73 as the top scorer.
Unfortunately, set batsman Jayasena was run out after striking a valuable 72 runs. Skipper Dellon Peiris added 27 runs, while Shashika Dulshan remained not out on 29.

When the stumps had been called on Day 1, Ragama were on 258/8 and eyeing adding another useful 30-40 runs to take their total to the 300-run mark. In the bowling department, Vithusan was the pick of the bowlers with 3/90, while Dinuka Dilshan took 2 wickets as well.
So, an exciting Day 2 is definitely coming up – it will be a thrilling match to see who will be crowned as the champions.
