Five matches of the SLC Premier League Tier B Tournament were played across several venues today. Pathum Madusanka (118) of Nugegoda SWC and Hasnain Bokhari (160) struck centuries on the 2nd day of the tournament.

Kandy Customs SC vs Kalutara Town Club (Day 2)

  • Overnight score ( 6 for 1 ) 

KTC only managed to accumulate 237 in their first innings in reply to Kandy’s 443, thanks to a fighting knock of 66 runs by Kevin Peiris . KCSC enforced the follow on with a handy first innings lead of 206 runs. Batting for the second time, KTC were 3 down for 42 runs in 15 overs when stumps were drawn on day 2 at Panadura.

Resuming the second day’s play on 32 for 3, the visitors were restricted to 161 runs. Former Sri Lanka U-19 cap Umesh Karunaratne was the lone warrior with the bat for the boys from Panadura, scoring an unbeaten 76 runs. 19 year-old Kavika Dilshan was the chief destructor with the ball as he picked up his 3rd 5 wicket haul in the segment. In reply, Galle CC were 43 for the loss of no wickets at the end of the 2nd day’s play in Galle.

Resuming his knock on 84, Pathum Madusanka went on to score a century, helping his team post a formidable first innings score of 413.

In reply, the KYCC openers piled up an unbeaten 35 runs in 14 overs by the time the umpires called it a day in Kurunegala.

Trailing only by 20 runs with five wickets in hand, the Sebastianites only managed to expand their lead to 16 runs as they were bundled out for 166. Dilanka grabbed 6 for 54.

In reply, Navy SC were 192 runs ahead of the Sebastianites when the stumps were drawn on day 2.

Continuing their good batting spree, Hasnain Bokhari scored a brilliant 160 and led the way to post a massive 420 for the loss of 8 wickets.

The Air Force men only managed to get 60 runs for 5 wickets in 19 overs when play was stopped for the second day.
