Right-arm leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay has been added to the Sri Lanka Test squad for the upcoming third and final Test match against India in Delhi, ThePapare.com reliably learns.

After suffering their heaviest Test defeat in history (an innings and 239-run loss), during the second Test in Nagpur, the Sri Lankan national selectors have decided to fly Vandersay in to strengthen the bowling attack.

Sri Lanka has another wrist-spinner in the squad in left-arm chinaman Lakshan Sandakan who is yet to feature in the series.

Vandersay, who has played 11 ODIs and 7 T20Is for Sri Lanka, has not yet made his Test debut. The 27-year old has 168 first-class wickets at 24.87 in 36 games.

Following his impressive turn at the 2016 World T20, Vandersay picked up a hand injury which sidelined him for several months and  has since found it difficult to break into the national side despite good performances with the ‘A’ team.
