Negombo Youth got back into form in week 5 with a 7-0 win while Navy SC scrapped through for a draw and Solid were held to a draw in Matara in the Dialog Champions League 2016 group stage.
Wijethunga’s first half goal enough against Thihariya
Nirmal Wijethunga’s 24th minute goal was enough as a lackluster Navy side emerged with a scrappy three points against Thihariya Youth at the Navy grounds in Welisara.

Acootey bags hat-trick as Negombo maul CSD
Eschun Acootey bagged a hat-trick and J.I.Suranga a brace as Negombo Youth came out of their slump in emphatic fashion defeating Civil Security Force SC 7-0 at the Kelaniya Football Complex.
Acootey opened the scoring in the 12th minute and aminute later Abdul Mumuni double the lead. Acootey completed his hat-trick with goals in the 31st and 35th minutes as Negombo Youth led 4-0 going into half time.
Priyankara Silva made it 5-0 with a goal in the 57th minute while Suranga bagged a three minute brace scoring in the 84th & 86th minutes.

Struggling Matara City holds Solid to a draw
Matara City drew with Solid SC 1-1 and earned a much needed point in the Dialog Champions League 2016 group stage encounter at the Matara Football Complex.
Solid had a major set-back when centre-back Thilina Bandara was sent off in the 13th minute and it was Matara who took a surprise lead in the 15th minute from a Prince Asamoah goal. However jubilations were short lived as Brayan Weerappuli was red carded three minutes later to send both teams down to 10 men.
O.J.Abumer managed to equalize for Solid in the 55th minute but neither could find themselves a winner in the remaining minutes.
