‘Honda’ Trophy MCA “G” Division 25 over League Tournament powered by Stafford Motor Co. [Pvt] Ltd grand finale concluded at the MCA Grounds on the 23rd of July 2022. It was sweet revenge over CDB ‘B’ as MAS active was defeated by 8 runs in the league stage.
Mas Active Opening batsman and wicket-keeper, Roshan Wijesekara dominated the encounter with a solid 62 runs in 46 balls, with a sixer and 8 fours under his name. He compiled his series tally to 345 runs in 9 innings.
MAS active who won the toss and chose to bat, they managed to notch up a total of 177/9 in 25 overs. Roshan Wijesakara playing the anchor, helped by skipper Geeth Sankalpa [26 runs in 9 balls, 4 towering sixes] & Heshan Thenuwara [ 13 runs in 5 balls inclusive 2 sixes]. Left arm off-spinner, Isuru Jayaranga of CDB was a clear highlight [5–22–4]

CDB climbed the ladder unbeaten and failed to get hold of the title attributable to their complacent batting; CDB batsmen going for big shots early caught them inside the ring. MAS Active bowlers dominated the opposition’s top order, from skipper Weranga Dissanayake to the last batsmen. Dissanayake opened the floor with Tharindu Madusanka and got out by the second ball he faced.
Thus, CDB never recovered after that shocking start, 4 more wickets fell at 22,23, 51, 79 and they finally succumbed to 153/9. Gihan Charuka [5-32-3], Dushmantha Disanayake [5-29-1], Thilina Nupahewa [5-36-1] & Tharaka Sandaruwan [ 4-15-1] were key roles in executing their bowling strategy against their opponents.
