The Official Media conference for ISAC – Inter International Schools’ Athletic Championships 2023 was held at Lyceum International School, Nugegoda on Thursday, 16th February 2023.

The Inter International Schools’ Athletic Championship (ISAC) is the most important co-curricular event in the school calendar of all international schools. Initiated in 2001, the event has now established itself as the flagship sporting event of the country’s international schools.

Being Sri Lanka’s biggest and most exciting school sporting event, ISAC will be held from 25th to 26th February at the Sugathadasa Stadium Colombo, from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. creating a grand platform for 2,000 athletes representing all TISSL schools with 100+ live sporting events.

This year, the 23 International Schools participating are – Asian International School, Belvoir College International, The British School in Colombo, Burhani Serendib School, Colombo International School – Colombo, Colombo International School – Kandy, Elizabeth Moir International School, Gateway College – Colombo, Gateway College – Kandy, Horizon College International, Ilma International Girls School, Leeds International School, Lyceum International School – Nugegoda, Lyceum International School – Panadura, Lyceum International School – Ratnapura, Lyceum International School- Wattala, OKI International School, The Overseas School of Colombo, Royal Institute – Colombo, St. Nicholas’ International School, Stafford International School, Wycherley International School -Colombo, Wycherley International School – Gampaha.

Lyceum International School will host the 8th edition of ISAC 2023 since being the first special attendees, organizers, and Official Media Partners in 2004.

During the past 20 years since its commencement, ISAC has elevated the standard of athletics among TISSL-affiliated international schools to an extent where it produces skilled, professional athletes who represent Sri Lanka at foreign track and field athletic championships.

In order to continuously maintain high standards, ISAC 2023 will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of TISSL, and those of the International Athletic Federation which will include electronic timing and measurements.

Lyceum International Schools as the official organizer of the ISAC 2023 will be collaborating with the following supporting schools: British School in Colombo, Colombo International School, Gateway College, Leeds International School, OKI International School and Royal Institute, to ensure a successful event.

Several esteemed organizations and entities will sponsor the event. Two renowned corporate entities have come forward as sponsors to support ISAC 2023. Lyceum Campus signed up as the Principal Sponsor for ISAC 2023, along with co-sponsors ASRIEL Holdings

Pvt (Ltd), Chariot, SEVEN Media, Baraka Naturals JOINT EASE, and Sampath Bank. This year’s special sponsor is Pearson Education and the snack partner is Munchee, Sri Lanka.

Lankadeepa Online, Daily Mirror Online, Mirror Sports, Daily FT and Sunday Times Online generously offered support for Digital Media Sponsorship and Web Media Sponsorship.

The Official Media Partner of this event is Dream Team Media who will be telecasting the entire event live on all social media channels.

Around 2,000 athletes from 23 international schools will compete in 130 events at the meet, in the following categories – Under 7 Boys & Girls, Under 9 Boys & Girls, Under 11 Boys & Girls, Under 13 Boys & Girls, Under 15 Boys & Girls, Under 19 Boys & Girls and Under 20 Boys & Girls.

There will be over 300 officials who will conduct the competition under the rules of the Amateur Athletic Association of Sri Lanka. Over 20,000 spectators including students, parents, staff members of all TISSL schools and cheering squads of participating schools are expected to be present on these two days.

Web-based results and scores for ISAC 2023 are instantly accessible online, through the ISAC website http://isac.lyceum.lk, designed and developed by the Department of Information Technology of Lyceum International Schools. The website will provide all necessary information including past meet records and a full list of competitors for this year’s meet.

During the special conference selected, invitees expressed their wishes, views and thoughts on ISAC with the crowd.

The Chief Advisor of ISAC 2023 Dr. Kumari Grero shared her valuable thoughts regarding this major event. She stated: “This event will surely improve the bond and sportsmanship among international schools. It will further reduce the stress of students, making a significant change to the repetitious nature of academic activities. This is indeed a challenge that must be transformed into a great opportunity to encourage our students”.

Mr. Rajiv Ekanayake – Chairperson of ISAC 2023 delivered his insightful message and stated: “Sports emphasizes the physical, psychological, as well as social aspects of life and the well-being of a student, with respect to his or her academic progress. The ISAC offers the students a wide range of chances and platforms, as well as all the necessary infrastructure, to excel in their sports calibre”.

Mr. Nilanka Imbuldeniya – (Lyceum Campus – principal sponsor of the event), delivered a message of encouragement stating, “Everyone cannot expect a podium finish. However, everyone must strive to achieve their personal best at ISAC”.

Mr. S. Harshan – Senior Regional Development Manager of Pearson Education, representing Ms. Premila Paulraj, the Regional Director – Employability & Qualifications Pearson Education stated that: “As a special sponsor of ISAC, we are pleased to support learners in their academic qualifications and in developing the skills that will shape their futures”.

During his address, Mr. Gayan Gnanasinghe representing Mr. Shiran Peiris – Chairman of Asriel Holdings and the co-sponsor of ISAC 2023 stated: “We value our partnership with Lyceum International Schools, and as one of the fastest growing business conglomerates in the country, our vision is to make Sri Lanka great again through nurturing and supporting the talents of the next generation.”

Mr. Mohamed Fahim -the Chief Operating Officer, Bio Extracts (Pvt) Ltd – Baraka stated: “To help build a healthier nation, we believe that sports play a major role. Being a 100% local manufacturing company, we strongly believe that our support is also imperative to uplift the importance of sports at the school level and the reason why we are here today”.
