The defending champions, India finished the Group stage unbeaten, registering a clinical 60-run win over Sri Lanka in the final Group game of the ongoing ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup 2025.

After winning the toss, Sri Lankan captain Manudi Nanayakkara elected to field first. Though Sri Lanka managed to pick up early wickets, India posted 118 for 9 in their 20 overs. Opening batter Gongadi Trisha top-scored with a 44-ball 49, including five fours and a six.

On the bowling front, Pramudi Methsara delivered a brilliant spell, producing a double-wicket maiden inside the powerplay and finishing with figures of 2 for 10 in 3 overs. Limansa Thilakarathna and Aseni Thalagune also chipped in with two wickets each.
Defending a target of 119, Indian seam bowlers were relentless, reducing Sri Lanka to 12 for 5 in just 4.2 overs. Sri Lanka struggled to gain any momentum, and their lower order focused on dragging the game to 20 overs. Rashmika Sewwandi was the only batter to reach double figures as Sri Lanka finished with 58 for 9.

Parunika Sisodia was the pick of the bowlers for India, taking 2 for 7, while Shabnam Md Shakil and Joshitha V. J. also shared four wickets between them.
Despite the defeat, the Sri Lanka Women U19 team progressed to the Super Six stage of the tournament, finishing second in the group behind India. They will face Scotland Women U19 on 26th January and Australia Women U19 on 29th January, starting at 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM Sri Lanka Time, respectively.
