Left-arm orthodox bowler Chamodi Praboda stood out with the ball once again as Sri Lanka defeated West Indies by a commanding 81-run margin, securing their second consecutive win in the ongoing ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup 2025.

After opting to bat first, Sri Lanka posted another competitive total of 166/5 in their 20 overs. Sanjana Kavindi was the top scorer, making 36 runs while hitting six fours. She provided Sri Lanka with a strong start, adding 54 runs in 6.3 overs alongside Sumudu Nisansala. Kavindi then shared a 48-run partnership with captain Manudi Nanayakkara, who contributed 37 runs off 31 balls.

After being reduced to 137/5, Dahami Sanethma provided the finishing touches with an unbeaten 31 off 25 balls. The West Indies players were sloppy in the field and struggled with their bowling, conceding a staggering 36 extras. Opening bowler Selena Ross was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 2 for 25.
Defending 167, Chamodi Praboda gave Sri Lanka a superb start by claiming three wickets in her opening spell. None of the West Indian batters were able to settle in during the difficult chase, with Skipper Samara Ramnath top-scoring with 24 runs.
Sri Lankan spinners continued to dominate, ensuring that the West Indies innings lacked any momentum. They were eventually bowled out for 85 with two balls to spare, handing Sri Lanka yet another convincing victory. Aseni Thalagune and Limansa Thilakarathna also impressed with the ball, taking two wickets each.

Sri Lanka Women U19 will face defending champions India Women U19 in their third and final Group A fixture in two days’ time, starting at 12:00 PM Sri Lanka Time.
