The all-rounder Dasun Shanaka is tipped to be named as the Captain of Sri Lanka T20 team that will tour West Indies for the 3-match T20 series on 23rd February.
Sri Lanka’s regular T20 Skipper Lasith Malinga captained the team in their last T20 series against current world champions West Indies, in March last year.

Dasun Shanaka had previously led Sri Lanka for a T20 series win over Pakistan in October 2019, as the islanders whitewashed them in a 3-match T20 series. The victory became significant for Sri Lanka because it was the first time that Sri Lanka won a T20 series 3-0, and having done it in the absence of some of the most senior players was special.
Shanaka also impressed as a leader during the recently concluded Lanka Premier League, where he guided Dambulla Viiking to the Semi-Finals after finishing 2nd in the league stage.
