Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club, Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC), Colombo Cricket Club (CCC) and Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) secured their places in the Semi Finals of the SLC Major Club T20 Tournament 2026 following four exciting Quarter Final encounters played today.
In the first Quarter Final at NCC Grounds in Colombo, Tamil Union C & AC registered a convincing 41-run victory over Panadura Sports Club.
Having been asked to bat first, Tamil Union posted a massive 220 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs, with opening batter Sineth Jayawardene leading the charge with a sensational maiden T20 century.

Jayawardene smashed 101 runs off just 52 balls, striking 8 fours and 7 sixes at a blistering strike rate of 194.23. His explosive innings provided the foundation for Tamil Union’s imposing total.
In reply, Panadura SC managed 179 runs before being restricted by Tamil Union’s spin attack. Wrist-spinner Vijayakanth Viyaskanth and left-arm spinner Navod Paranavithana claimed four wickets apiece to seal a comprehensive victory for Tamil Union and send them through to the Semi Finals
The second Quarter Final produced a thrilling finish at SSC Grounds, where NCC edged past Moors SC by two wickets.
Jeewaka Sashin played a pivotal role in NCC’s successful chase, producing an impressive maiden T20 half-century. He smashed 85 runs off 48 balls, including 7 fours and 4 sixes, at a strike rate of 177.08.
His attacking innings kept NCC in the hunt as they eventually completed a thrilling victory to book their place in the Semi Finals.
In the third Quarter Final, CCC recorded a commanding 64-run victory over Ace Capital CC at SSC Grounds.
Nishan Madushka was the standout performer for CCC, smashing his maiden T20 century in spectacular fashion. Madushka struck 114 runs off just 56 balls, with 9 fours and 8 sixes, at an outstanding strike rate of 203.57.
His explosive hundred powered CCC to a massive total and laid the platform for a comfortable victory, securing their Semi Final berth.
The fourth Quarter Final at NCC Grounds saw SSC hold their nerve to defeat Police Sports Club by 12 runs in a high-scoring encounter.
Batting first, SSC posted a mammoth 225 for 4 in 20 overs, with Nuwanidu Fernando producing a magnificent century at the top of the order. Fernando smashed 117 runs off only 53 balls, hitting 9 fours and 8 sixes at a remarkable strike rate of 220.75.

Police SC mounted a strong challenge in the run chase and came agonizingly close to the target. Dushan Hemantha top scored with a quickfire 51 off 25 balls, including a four and 5 sixes, at a strike rate of 204.
However, SSC held their composure in the closing stages to secure a hard-fought victory and complete the Semi Final lineup.
