Six more matches of the SLC Major Club T20 Tournament 2026 were worked off today (1st September) at several venues across the island, with Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club, Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC), Moors Sports Club, Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC), Bloomfield Cricket & Athletic Club and Colombo Cricket Club (CCC) registering victories in their respective encounters.
Tamil Union C & AC produced a dominant performance against BRC, with Lahiru Samarakoon and Thanuka Dabare leading the way. Samarakoon delivered an outstanding spell with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for 23 runs, before Thanuka Dabare produced a blistering batting display to seal the win.
Dabare smashed his maiden T20 century, remaining unbeaten on 100 runs off just 50 deliveries. His explosive innings included 2 fours and 11 sixes, coming at a staggering strike rate of 200.
Moors SC also recorded a comfortable victory over Nugegoda S & WC, powered by impressive half-centuries from Pasindu Sooriyabandara and Sohan de Livera. Sooriyabandara struck 59 while de Livera top-scored with a fine 64, while Garuka Sanketh starred with the ball, claiming a four-wicket haul.
Nugegoda S & WC’s Pulindu Perera produced a blistering half-century, but his effort ultimately went in vain as Moors SC secured the victory.
National capped batters Avishka Fernando and Kamindu Mendis also made their presence felt with impressive half-centuries for SSC and CCC respectively.
Fernando struck 66 off 43 balls, hitting 4 fours and 4 sixes, while Mendis produced an equally aggressive knock of 71 off 43 deliveries, with 5 fours and 5 sixes. Both innings played key roles in their respective teams’ victories.
