SLC Major Club T20 Tournament 2026 got underway today (12th August), with six matches played across the opening day of the tournament.

Colombo Cricket Club, Police Sports Club, Badureliya Sports Club, Ace Capital Cricket Club, Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club and Sinhalese Sports Club all registered victories to make winning starts to their respective campaigns.

Among the batters, Shevon Daniel and Koojana Perera stood out with blistering half-centuries.

Daniel produced an impressive knock for SSC in their Group B encounter against Colts CC, scoring 81 runs off just 53 deliveries. His innings included 6 fours and 4 sixes, coming at a strike rate of 152.83.

Perera was equally destructive for Badureliya SC in their Group B clash against Bloomfield C & AC, scoring 76 runs off just 43 balls. He struck 7 fours and 3 sixes at a remarkable strike rate of 176.74.

Sanuka Galagoda (Bloomfield C & AC), Sahan Kosala (CCC), Thaveesha Abhishek (Panadura SC) and Navod Paranavithana (Tamil Union C & AC) also made their mark with impressive half-centuries on the opening day.

The bowlers were not to be outdone, with Police Sports Club’s Heshan Madushanka producing the standout bowling performance of the day.

Madushanka claimed an excellent five-wicket haul for just 19 runs in Police SC’s Group A encounter against BRC, playing a key role in his side’s winning start.

Vathila Udara (Kurunegala YCC) and Malith De Silva (Badureliya SC) also impressed with the ball, claiming four wickets each to headline the other notable bowling performances of the day.
