SLC Major Club 50 Over Tournament 2026 got underway today with six matches played across the opening day, with Panadura Sports Club, Moors Sports Club, Sinhalese Sports Club, Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club, Burgher Recreation Club and Bloomfield Cricket & Athletic Club recording victories in their respective encounters.
Movin Subasinghe produced the standout batting performance of the day, smashing a blistering century to guide BRC to victory over NCC.

Subasinghe took the attack apart with a sensational 140 off just 72 deliveries, striking 10 fours and 14 sixes at a staggering strike rate of 194.44. His explosive innings provided the foundation for BRC’s successful outing.
The opening day also witnessed two outstanding bowling performances, with Lahiru Samarakoon and Shiran Fernando claiming five-wicket hauls.
Samarakoon was instrumental in Tamil Union C & AC’s victory over Kurunegala YCC, producing an excellent spell of 5 for 26 to dismantle the opposition batting lineup.
