Big win has St. Sebastian’s through to semi-final

St. Sebastian’s College beat St. Aloysius College, Galle by a massive 104 runs in the Singer U17 Division 1 Cricket Tournament Quarter Final match played at Lyceum ground, Wattala.

Winning the toss and batting in the quarter final, the boys from Moratuwa managed a reasonable 209 for 8 in the allotted quota of 50 overs. Praveen Cooray ensured St. Sebastian’s put on a competitive score as he was the lynch pin in the batting scoring 66 in the process.

Niluksha Dulmina was sublime with the ball for St. Aloysius picking 5/56 while Hareen Buddila managed 2/19 restricting the lads from Moratuwa.

The Sebastian’s bowlers were on a roll as Nuwanindu Fernando (4/26), Dinujaya Ranasinghe (3/19) and Tashik Perera (2/13) ran through the Aloysius batting with ease as the boys from Galle never looked comfortable in their chase eventually being bowled out for 105 in just 31.2 overs.

Niluksha Dulmina with 28 and Ravindu Sanjana with 20 were the only two batsman to score double figures for St. Aloysius.
