The second day of the first Youth Test between Sri Lanka U19 and India U19 concluded today (14th July) at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, with India U19 producing a strong reply after the hosts posted a commanding first-innings total.
Sri Lanka U19 resumed day two on 344 for 4, but overnight batter Senuja Wekunagoda was dismissed early in the morning session after adding just a few runs to his overnight score.

The stylish left-hander’s magnificent innings of 233 saw him rewrite the record books, becoming the highest individual scorer by a Sri Lankan in Youth Test cricket history.
Following Wekunagoda’s dismissal, Sri Lanka U19 suffered a mini batting collapse, losing five wickets for just 80 runs before declaring their first innings on 424 for 9.
India U19 responded confidently with the bat, reaching 186 without loss by stumps to remain firmly in the contest.
The openers Lakshya Raichandani and Sagar Virk laid a solid foundation with an unbeaten partnership, frustrating the Sri Lankan bowlers throughout the remainder of the day.

Raichandani remained unbeaten on 93, while Virk finished the day on an equally impressive 87 not out, with both batters registering half-centuries.
With all ten wickets intact and 238 runs still required to match Sri Lanka U19’s first-innings total, India U19 will look to continue their impressive start when play resumes on day three.
