Sri Lanka registered a comfortable nine-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the second match of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026, played today (29th August) in Dubai.
Having won the toss, Sri Lanka elected to bowl first, and the decision paid immediate dividends as the defending champions restricted UAE to just 79 runs.
Sri Lanka’s pace attack was led by an impressive debut performance from right-arm speedster Chethana Vimukthi, who claimed three wickets for 16 runs in her maiden T20I appearance.

Her opening fast-bowling partner Mithali Ayodhya was equally impressive, producing her career-best bowling figures in T20Is by claiming three wickets for just 14 runs.
With UAE restricted to a modest total, Sri Lanka made light work of the chase, reaching the target in just 7.5 overs with nine wickets in hand.
Skipper Chamari Athapaththu led from the front with a commanding unbeaten 48 off just 25 balls. Her entertaining knock included seven fours and two sixes, coming at an outstanding strike rate of 192.00.
