Fairfirst Insurance, CDB A, BBK Partnership and Hayleys Group A were victorious in four games of the 30th Singer – MCA Super Premier League 2023, which was played today (25th April) at several venues in Sri Lanka.

John Keells A vs Fairfirst Insurance

Fairfirst Insurance beat John Keells A by 6 wickets at the Army Grounds in Panagoda.

After opting to bat, John Keells A were restricted to 174, led by Thanuka Dabare who bagged 4/41 while Nuwan Thushara took 3 wickets as well. Dhananjaya Lakshan and Dunith Wellalage scored 43 and 42, respectively.

Thanuka Dabare went all guns blazing in the chase, smashing 87 off 44, including 8 fours and 7 sixes as Fairfirst Insurance chased down the target in just 21.1 overs with 6 wickets in hand.

CDB A vs CL Synergy Limited

CDB A defended a total below the 200-run mark against CL Synergy Limited at MCA Grounds in Colombo.

Having been asked to bat first, CDB A managed to get only 190 in their innings, major contributions coming from Muditha Lakshan with a 69-run knock while Ashan Priyanjan picked up 3/39. Apart from that, Dilum Sudeera and Harshana Wickramasinghe shared a couple of wickets apiece.

In reply, CL Synergy Limited’s batters were bundled out for 93; Nimsara Atharagalla produced a terrific bowling display of 7/36 as CDB A won by massive 97-run margin.

BBK Partnership vs Mode Engineering

BBK Partnership recorded a massive win over Mode Engineering at NCC Grounds in Colombo.

BBK Partnership posted 248 before being bowled out in 49.4 overs. Opening batsman, Sangeeth Cooray batted throughout the innings before being dismissed as the last batter for a brilliant 125 off 134 which included 7 fours and 4 sixes. Sohan De Livera and Sheran Fonseka chipped in with 30s. In the bowling department, Ashan Fernando, Ranitha Liyanarachchi and Danal Hemananda scalped two apiece.

However, Mode Engineering were blown away for 143 runs. Murvin Abinash’s claimed a 7-wicket haul to hand his team a 105-run win.

HNB A vs Hayleys Group A

Hayleys Group A were able to beat HNB A in a close encounter at the FTZ Grounds in Katunayake.

After having won the toss and deciding to bat first, HNB A managed to add 241 runs after losing all 10 wickets in 49.1 overs. Lasith Abeyrathne played an outstanding knock, missing a well-deserved hundred by just 4 runs, unfortunately. On the other hand, Praveen Jayawickrama and skipper Avishka Fernando shared 5 wickets between them.

Chasing 242 to win, Hayleys Group A got off to brilliant start with three of their top four batters scoring half-centuries. Skipper Avishka Fernando smashed a 62-ball 78 while Nuwanindu Fernando and Santhush Gunathilake scored 59 and 50*, respectively as they chased down the target with more than 10 overs to spare and 3 wickets in hand.
