True sportsmanship lights up the Olympic stadium

Abbey D’Agostino of USA and Nikki Hambling of New Zealand collided during their heat of 5000m event and D’Agostino was quick to reach out to Hambling who was still on the floor reportedly telling her “get up we need to finish this” instead of continuing to catch up to the rest of the runners.  As the race continued it was  D’Agostino who was in severe pain as she has badly injured her ankle in the clash, Hambling was quick to reciprocate the earlier gesture by D’Agostino  hanging back to encourage the American to finish her race. Both Athletes then embraced each other before D’Agostino received medical attention in a wheel chair.

Though not qualified for their performance in the heat the Olympic committee has decided to reinstate the two athletes in the final if they are fit to participate.
