ThePapare.com has chosen the XI who were worthy enough to be named in the ‘Team of the Week’ for the Super 8 Week 03 which comes in a 4-3-3 formation.

Kaveesh Fernando

Position : Goalkeeper

Name: Kaveesh Fernando

Club: New Youngs FC

Kaveesh completes the hat-trick of appearances in the Super 8 TOTW with another strong performance against Solid SC. Though he was not able to keep a clean sheet it was his multiple saves that cemented his position. Three diving saves and a one on one save against Edison Figurado were the highlights of his 90 minutes.

Club: Navy SC

Tharindu Eranga

The former Sri Lanka right-back making his comeback after an injury plagued last few months. He was a constant threat up and down the field against Blue Star where Subash Madushan got on the end of one of his teasing crosses to score the opener.

Rawme Mohideen

Position: Centre-back

Name: Rawme Mohideen

Club: Colombo FC

Rawme having to play in an uncustomary center-back position for the 2nd week running, this time due to Afeel Mohamed’s suspension, controlled the game brilliantly from the back and looked like a natural alongside fellow veteran Ramees.

Club: Army SC

Asikur Rahuman

He had a very good game against Renown in their FA Cup final rematch where he negated Renown’s forward threat to keep a clean sheet. Though it was later revealed he was ineligible to play that game there was no denying the quality of his performance on that day.

Fahir Ali

Position: Right-back

Name: Fahir Ali

Club: Blue Star SC

Ali sparked Blue Star’s 2nd half comeback draw against Navy after a solid 1st half. He balanced well his duties in attack and defense as they were already down 2-0.

Position: Central-midfield

Club: Colombo FC

Momas Yapo

The enforcer once again makes the TOTW with a commanding performance from the midfield. He protected the back four not allowing anyone through while joining in attack when given the opportunity.

Zarwan Johar

Position: Central-midfield

Club: Colombo FC

Zarwan’s inclusion midway through the 1st half changed the game for Colombo FC with their attacks becoming crisper. His free kick on the stroke of half time provided for the 2nd goal which eventually proved to be the winner.

Club: Solid SC

Arubishan Daniel

Daniel is another 1st half substitute who made a difference. His speed and strength caused trouble for New Youngs as solid came from a goal down to draw 1-1.

Sajith Kumara

Position: Forward

Club: Army SC

A stunning goal to start against Renown as Sajith ran circles around their defense and could have added another before the break.

Madushan De Silva

Partnering with Sajith Kumara, Madushan De Silva terrorized the Renown defense on the left on his way to scoring two goals in the 1st half including a stunning a strike from the edge of the box.

Afonja Jibola

Position: Forward

Club: Blue Star SC

Jibola is best utilized playing out wide, which Blue Star found out in the 2nd half against Navy down by two goals. Him playing wide stretched the Navy defense which allowed the others to take full use of the vacant spaces in the middle. Scored the equalizer in the 77th minute.
