Sri Lankan born and bred Adithya Karunaratne has won her 4th Women’s Open title in the Catalunyan Women’s Open Masters Championship 2017.

She defeated a fully sponsored player from China who, much like herself, is a full-time tennis player in Barcelona in a tight yet satisfying score of 6/4, 7/5 in the final to claim the title.

The 15-year-old has earned 2 points in the WTA circuit in her short career and is just one point away from playing in the main draws of the big leagues. To focus on her WTA circuit Adithya will bid adieu to the ITF U18 tournaments where she has a career highest ranking of 205. She’s marked in the history books as one of the youngest players to claim ownership of 6 ITF titles to her name.

Adithya has participated in many Group 1, 4 and B1 tournament across the globe this year and has played some magnificent tennis throughout. One of her biggest wins have been the victory over Andrea Ka who has a WTA ranking of 560, in the recently concluded Astoria Futures Series held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
