Sri Lanka’s sprint sensation Yupun Abeykoon competed in the Men’s 100m Diamond League Final, which was held on the 9th of September 2022 in Zurich.
27-year-old Abeykoon was placed 5th as he registered a timing of 10.14s (-0.3m/s) in the final.
The Commonwealth Bronze Medalist was up against a tough competition in the likes of Yohan Blake, Trayvon Bromell, Andre de Grasse and Akani Simbine who are all well recognized names in the sprint event.

USA’s Trayvon Bromell was crowned as the Diamond League winner as he won the competition quite easily with a sub-10 timing. Olympic Medalist Yohan Blake was placed 2nd while Canadian Aaron Brown secured the 3rd spot.
Abeykoon was selected to the Diamond League final because of his excellent track record this season as the best performing athletes at Diamond League races for the season are invited to compete in the all-important final race of the series.
