Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Team skipper Chamari Athapaththu has been roped in by UP Warriorz for the upcoming Women’s Premier League 2024.
Athapaththu will join the Warriorz squad as a replacement for England fast bowler Lauren Bell, who has withdrawn from the tournament in order to prepare for the New Zealand series.
Bell was bought by the Warriorz team for a price of INR 30 Lakhs at the WPL auction. Athapaththu was surprisingly unsold during the WPL auction, given the form she carried over the last 12 months in limited-overs cricket.
Women’s Premier League will be played from 23rd February to 17th March in Bengaluru and Delhi. Warriorz will play their first game on 24th February against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
