The second Asia schools U18 sevens tournament kicked off at Kings Park, in Hong Kong today. Sri Lanka Under 18 Junior Tuskers won all three games that they played.

Sri Lanka took on Thailand in their first game and finished as 19 – 12 victorious. Josephian Chathura Senavirathne, Trinity duo Avishka Shiek and Anuka Boyagoda scored a try each whilst Senavirathne added two conversions.

In the second game the junior Tuskers had a very close fight over the upcoming Asian giants Malaysia.

Captain Naveen Henakankanamge’s hat-trick was the stand out a on that game as Sri Lanka won 29 – 21 points.

In addition to those 3 tries from the Thomian, Boyagoda and Shiek scored a try a piece whilst Senavirathne added 2 conversions.

In the last game of the day Sri Lanka thrashed Mongolia 52 – 00 to finish the day on a high. Vinul Fernando, Sumudu Rankothge, Dinuk Amarasinghe, Harith Bandara all added their names to the try list alongside the previous scorers.

In the other games the hosts and the defending champions Hong Kong look favourites to claim the title yet again. They finished unbeaten thumping China 36 – 5, India 56 – 00 and Guam 50 – 00.

Sri Lanka finished top in group B while another group game remains for all teams tomorrow. However,  Sri Lanka look like they  will play the semifinal against Singapore and Hong Kong will possibly take on  the runners up in group B which could be either Malaysia or Thailand.
