Galle and Colombo North registered wins in their encounters against Dambulla and Galle Outer respectively in the U19 Women’s Youth League today (08th September).

Batting first, Galle managed to put on a solid total (154/1) on the board thanks to brilliant half-centuries made by Sumudu Nisansala and Sanjana Kavindi. Nisansala top scored with a knock of 70 runs off 67 balls with 10 fours while Kavindi contributed with unbeaten 54 runs off 63 balls with 6 fours and a six.

The Galle girls were brilliant with the ball as they managed to restrict the opposition to just 59/6 in the allotted 20 overs. Vihara Sewwandi was the pick of the bowlers for Galle as she managed to grab 3 wickets for just 9 runs.

A brilliant bowling performance helped Colombo North register a convincing 6-wicket win over Galle Outer. Umaya Rathnayake and Vidushika Perera shared 6 wickets between them to restrict Galle Outer to just 89 runs.

Colombo North chased down the target of 90 runs quite comprehensively as they got over the line in the 12th over losing only 4 wickets.
