The traditional encounter between Ananda College and Prince of Wales College ended in a draw today (10th June) at Ananda College Grounds in Colombo.
Ananda College resumed their first innings on day two at 70 runs for 2 wickets and went onto post a respectable total of 293 thanks to Nethma Karunaratne’s eye-catching half-century.
Karunaratne’s 98-run knock came off 108 balls with 13 fours and a six. Prince of Wales College began their second innings 35 runs ahead but faltered with the bat this time around as they made only 129 runs setting a 165-run target for the hosts.
In their run-chase, Ananda College also struggled with the bat as they lost 5 wickets for 71 runs at the end of second day’s play.
Apart from this, two more traditional encounters commenced today at Colombo & Mount Lavinia. St. Sebastian’s College took on S. Thomas’ College at Mount Lavinia while Royal College and Nalanda College locked horns at Nalanda College Grounds.
Sadisha Rajapaksha (6/34), Raveen De Silva (5/64), Uvindu Weerasekara (86) and Savindu Rodrigo (56) lit up the day with impressive performances with bat and ball in these two traditional encounters.
