Thurstan record 1st innings win against Bens

Thurstan College Colombo managed to record a first innings win against St. Benedict’s College Kotahena today in a match played in Colombo. 

 

St. Benedict’s College coming out to bat on day two after ending day one on 10 for no loss managed to put together 205 runs in 81.3 over’s. The visitors were struggling going in for lunch with 94 runs on the board for the loss of 4 wickets; however they managed to post a respectable score with the help of Madura Madushanka who scored 48 runs. Madushanka was well on his way to score a half century, but was prevented by some tight bowling from the Thurstanites. 

Right arm quick, Charana Nanayakkara was the pick of the bowlers for the home team as he ended with impressive figures of 3/17 runs. He was given a lot of support from his skipper and right arm offie Ramindu Kumarasinghe who finished with 3/49. 

Thurstan College in their 2nd innings with time running out and 44 runs in front managed to end day two with a score of 46 runs in 19 over’s. Opening batsman Kavindu Kulasekera was unbeaten on 26* while Geethika Jayathiake captured two wickets for 10 runs for the visitors.
