The first week of March was a quiet one for the Singer U19 Division II Cricket Tournament 2019/20 as the annual big matches were happening in full form across all parts of the island.

The last two L/O pre-quarter final matches were played during the past week, producing victories for Piliyandala Central College and St. John’s College, Jaffna. Jamith Dilshan and Chamod Sandaru starred for Piliyandala Central in their 4-wicket win over Siri Piyarathana MMV, while the spinners starred for St. John’s in their win over Lyceum International School, Wattala.

Apart from the two knock-out games, two more traditional encounters were worked off in Kalutara, involving Tissa Central College. The Tissians managed to take major honours against Sri Dharmaloka College, but lost by 79 runs at the hands of St. John’s College Panadura. Hasindu Prabod’s knock of 189 for Sri Dharmaloka was the standout performance of the week.
